22-year-old Denzel Himself is no stranger to the creative scene. Having spent time as a film student he’s turned his hand to producing cutting-edge rap, the latest labour of which is ‘Chevi’. The track opens with a drone-like vocal over a jazzy chord structure, before Denzel Himself’s distinctive vocal cuts in with increasingly frantic verses. Interrupting his flow periodically are animalistic growls and a fabricated radio announcement, giving ‘Chevi’ a slightly unnerving edge. The eye catching video is shot and edited by rising star Anna Dobos, and like with previous single ‘Bangin’, its directed by Denzel Himself. It consists of beautifully graded shots of Denzel in his home, garden and car, giving the video a distinct sense of intimacy. The extent to which Denzel Himself is involved in this track's creation marks him out as one of the most exciting voices on the rap scene.
